Garter Toss Alternatives
The garter toss is a traditional event in any wedding. However, due to its medieval roots, many may see the tradition as antiquated, or they may want to be more conservative in front of their older relatives. If you want to keep the garter toss, or your partner has something special prepared, then go for it! But, if you’re hesitant about keeping it in your wedding programming, here are some alternatives to the traditional garter toss:
- Throwing a second garter
Usually the most risque part of the garter toss is actually getting the garter from under the dress. To make the garter toss more family friendly, take out the actual retrieving of the garter and throw a second garter instead! This completely removes your partner coming under your dress, and you’d have the opportunity to hold onto your original garter as a keepsake!
- Make the bouquet toss co-ed
Both winners of the bouquet toss and garter toss signify the people to get married next. If you choose to forgo the garter toss, then have everyone go for it in the bouquet toss! This option is fun and can get a little competitive for all of your single friends!
- Boutonniere Toss
If you want to keep the tosses separate, then throw the boutonniere! We love this as a complement to the bouquet toss, but make sure to remove the pin before you throw!
