Jumping the Broom

When Tiffany and Eric’s loved ones yelled “jump,” the energy and excitement in the air was palpable. On a beautiful September day in Southern California, the bride and groom embraced the centuries-old tradition of “jumping the broom.” With symbolism rooted in African history, a beautifully decorated broom was laid on the ground in front of the bride and groom after their vows were spoken. To honor the past and welcome the future, Tiffany and Eric held hands and took their first leap of faith as husband and wife.

Even before the ceremony began, it was clear that Tiffany and Eric had a special connection. The bride and groom decided to have a “First Touch.” They took this moment to read a love letter to each other through tears and laughter. Throughout Tiffany and Eric’s wedding day, there was a perfect balance between of honoring their families and celebrating their own journey. The bride’s wedding band had been created with diamonds from the mother of the groom’s wedding ring, and the bride’s grandmother and niece walked down the aisle as “flower girls.”

After a touching and personal ceremony, it was time for Tiffany and Eric’s grand entrance to kick off  their reception. With DJ Ashley from Invisible Touch playing Bruno Mars’ 24 Carat, the bridal party members danced their way into the room and lined up to welcome the newlyweds. The happy couple kicked off their celebration with a choreographed first dance to So Into You by Childish Gambino.

To make the reception even more personal, custom centerpieces were created by the bride and groom. Every table featured an engagement photo of the couple paired with a picture of one of their favorite cities in California. Their stylized use of lighting and custom projections complemented the beauty of Dana Point’s Ocean Institute. At the end of the night, they made their way through a path of guests holding glow sticks and cheering. Tiffany and Eric were off to their new life surrounded by love.
