A Little NYC Inspiration from FRIENDS!

Looking for a special date – or maybe even a romantic proposal – in New York City? We don’t have to look further than our television. FRIENDS continues to capture the hearts of viewers, but why not take some of their best NY moments and create some magic of our own?

After 10 seasons, “Friends” still gives us some great ideas for a special night out…and might even serve as inspiration for a proposal that would make Chandler and Monica proud!

The Hayden Planetarium

Visit the spot of Ross and Rachel’s first date. Located within the American Museum of Natural History, take your special someone on a tour of the stars – and maybe make a wish on one!

The Plaza

We can’t forget Monica’s effort to get everyone dressed and ready to celebrate her engagement to Chandler with champagne at The Plaza, New York’s legendary hotel. The Plaza is the perfect backdrop for an elegant evening.

Central Park

Rachel and Phoebe may have had issues running together through this iconic landmark, but there’s much more to do there. Consider a cozy horse-drawn carriage ride, paddle a scenic rowboat and have a romantic lunch or dinner at The Loeb Boathouse, ice skate or ride the carousel at Wollman Rink, or set up a sweet picnic for two.

The Theater

Even though you won’t find Joey Tribbiani performing one of his unforgettable plays, take advantage of the 40+ theaters located in the famed Theater District along Broadway. With so many to choose from, and last-minute lotteries available to get discounted seats, you can enjoy an impromptu date night with the cast of Wicked, Chicago, Dear Evan Hansen, or more!

Dinner at the Chef’s Table

Monica Gellar may not be wearing the chef’s hat, but the ultimate dining experience is at the chef’s table at one of New York’s best restaurants. With a first row seat to all the action in the kitchen, you’ll get a special glimpse into a chef’s artistry. Your dinner date will surely be impressed! Whether you choose to visit Daniel, Jonathon Waxman’s Barbuto, or Hearth in the East Village, a chef’s table will be an unforgettable dining event.

Live Music

The playlist will likely not include “Smelly Cat” but New York is full of live music venues. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed vibe like Harlem Nights, the glamour of the jazz age at Fine & Rare, or the variety of musical stylings at Bar Lunatico, you are sure to find the perfect spot for a first date or special occasion.

Even if you can’t find Central Perk, grab a coffee and explore the New York City. You’ll find unique spots to make memories with someone special.
